Welcome Back, Danville Families!
We are overjoyed to welcome everyone back for the start of a brand-new school year! The first day of school for 1st-12th graders is Wednesday, August 27, and we are eagerly anticipating the laughter, curiosity, and energy that our students bring to Danville each day. There is truly nothing like the feeling of seeing our school come alive again after a summer away.
As we begin this new year together, we encourage you to keep an eye on our school website, which is in the process of getting a revamp, and newsletters for important updates and announcements. And please remember, we are always here for you—don’t hesitate to reach out to either of us or any of our wonderful staff members if you have questions, ideas, or need support.
We also warmly invite all parents and guardians to become an active part of our school community. Your presence, whether through volunteering, joining the Parent-Teacher Group (PTG), attending school events, or simply celebrating your child’s achievements, enriches our school in countless ways. Together, we create a caring, vibrant, and inspiring environment where every child feels seen, valued, and excited to learn.
We are grateful for the trust you place in us and feel honored to partner with you in helping your children grow. Here’s to a year filled with discovery, joy, and meaningful connections—we can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Our doors open for early drop off at 7:30 AM, please do not bring students earlier as there is no supervision. All pK-12th grade students being dropped off should enter through the front lobby doors. HS students who drive to school also enter via the front entrance. All students are welcome to go to the cafeteria for breakfast. Preschool students wait in the main lobby at the tables. Elementary students (K-6) remain in the cafeteria until 8 AM. Middle and high school students (7-12) can bring their breakfast to the gym, where they will remain until 8 AM. At 8 AM all students are welcome to go to their classrooms.

All students who are family drop-off will be entering through the main lobby door. If they arrive between 7:30-8:00, they need to follow the above procedure for where to be during that time. Families, for the safety of all, please wait in the line and drop off your child anywhere along the sidewalk. Once your car is empty, you can slowly pull out and pass the other cars. Please do not park in the middle of the drop-off lane. If you need to park and walk your preschooler in, please park in our visitor spots or wait and pull up to the very front of the drop-off lane. High school students who drive themselves to school must also enter through the main lobby door. They may not use the high school hallway door.
Dismissal Procedures
Families of kindergarten - 6th grade students will wait in the pick-up line. All family groups have an assigned number. New car tags will be provided to families on the first day of school. Numbers do not change year-to-year. Parents who are picking up 7th-12th grade students can text their child when they are here for them to walk out.
Student walkers exit out of the bus loop doors. Parents/Guardians are requested to wait outside the main atrium doors for students walkers to exit. If it is cold out, we encourage you to go through the pick up line in your vehicle.

As we begin the new school year, CCSU is implementing a consistent personal device procedure for all schools in the Supervisory Union. When you click the button below, you’ll find an important document that outlines the reasoning behind this updated procedure and provides a detailed FAQ page to help answer common questions.
Under the new guidelines, all students in grades 5–12 are required to turn in personal devices that connect to the internet—including cell phones, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds—at the start of the school day and retrieve them at the end of the day.
At Danville, this change will feel minimal for most students. Our 5th–8th graders were already expected to keep devices off and away during the school day. For high school students, this is a natural next step, as last year’s expectations limited device use to passing periods only. High school students who drive to school and do not want their device(s) stored at school can leave them in their locked vehicle but will not be permitted to visit their vehicle during the day. Students in PreK–4th grade are still expected not to bring personal devices to school; if they do, they will follow the same procedure as older students.
We appreciate your support in helping all students stay present, focused, and engaged during the school day.
Wondering exactly how it will work? Here are the logistical details.
Middle and High School (grades 7-12)
Students in MS and HS will turn their devices (phones, smart watches, wireless earbuds, etc) off and deposit them in named bubble mailer envelopes within secured storage bins by Mrs. Conway's office every morning starting at 8 AM. Staff members will be there to assist students and monitor the device drop off. Staff members will bring the storage containers to the office to a locked cabinet where they'll remain until the end of the school day. At 3 PM, devices will be available for students to pick up again by Mrs. Conway's office and staff members will be present to assist in distribution.
Elementary School (grades 5 and 6)
Students will turn their turned off devices to their teacher at the start of the school day. Named envelopes within labeled storage bins will be available to each grade level. Staff members will bring the storage containers to the office to a locked cabinet where they'll remain until the end of the school day. At 3 PM, staff members will redistribute devices to students.
