November 5, 2025
As we step into November, we’re taking a moment to reflect on how much our students, staff, and community have already accomplished this school year. The fall months have been full of energy — from classroom learning and hands-on projects to spirited athletic events and family gatherings.

November is also a time for gratitude, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you. Your support, whether it’s helping with homework, cheering from the sidelines, attending school events, or simply encouraging your child each morning, makes an enormous difference.

School Trips & Events

High School NEACAC College Fair at St. Michael's College

Danville High School students attended the NEACAC College Fair at St. Michael's College on October 8th. Following the fair, they toured the campus and had lunch in the dining hall. This was a great opportunity to speak with college representatives from across the country. We thank St. Michael's College for hosting us and showing us all their campus has to offer.

8th Grade trip to St. Michael's College

On Tuesday, 10/21, our 8th grade students had an amazing day touring Saint Micheal’s campus, attending an info session, and enjoying lunch in the dining hall. Early exploration helps students build confidence, set goals, and see the possibilities ahead. We are grateful for the opportunity!

CLiF Program Visits Danville!

On October 20th, Danville Elementary was visited by Duncan MacDougall, founder of the Children's Literacy Foundation (CLiF), and Cassie Willner, their Program Manager. Duncan read books to our students and talked about the importance of reading. The Pope Memorial Library on the Green in Danville was awarded the Rural Library Grant through CLiF, and as a School Library partner, Danville School was awarded $500 in books for our library, two author presentations throughout the year, and in the spring, each student will be given a book. The Pope Memorial Library also received $2,000 worth of new books, board books, and other family engagement materials. We are so grateful for this grant - thank you Duncan and Cassie, and a big thank you to Marilyn McDowell at the Pope Memorial Library for working with us and including us in this grant!

Winter Sports Registration

The 2025-2026 winter athletic registration for Danville K-12th is now open!

Registration will temporarily close on Friday November 14th in order to gauge interest in each grade level. It is very important to sign your child up as soon as possible so that the CCSU athletic department can gauge the need for coaches, equipment and uniforms.

Danville Athletics offer the following opportunities for the winter season:

Danville:  K-2 basketball skills, 3/4th girls basketball, 3/4th boys basketball, 5/6th girls basketball, 5/6th boys basketball, 7/8th girls basketball, 7/8th boys basketball, 9-12th girls basketball, 9-12th, 9-12th boys basketball, 9-12th Cheer

Danville high school students have the opportunity to play sports at another high school as long as a CCSU school does not offer that opportunity. Students interested in this opportunity (ice hockey, cheer, gymnastics, alpine and nordic skiing, dance, wrestling, snowboarding) should sign up as a Member to Member/Independent Participant and email the Athletic Director.

You can register your student at CCSU Student Life.

If you are in need of further instructions on how to sign your student up for CCSU Athletics please refer to this document: CCSU Greetings from Family ID.

If you have any questions feel free to contact CCSU Athletic Director Randy Rathburn or CCSU Assistant Athletic Director Dana Welch.

Digital Citizenship

At Danville School, our library curriculum includes the vital skill of digital citizenship, which we define as the responsible, safe, and respectful use of technology to engage online. We use several resources to teach these skills, and the concepts are reinforced during regular classroom instruction. Since students encounter technology in many different settings, it is also crucial for the adults in their lives to understand online safety and how to navigate various digital media platforms, including social media, fact-checking sources, and research databases. Our library website features a dedicated page of digital citizenship resources that are available for anyone to use. You can find more information here.

Sweetheart & Hero Presentation

On Monday, November 10th, we will have a K-12 Sweetheart & Hero presentation. We are thankful to Littleton Chevrolet for sponsoring this event.

Household Income

Dear Families and Caregivers,

Danville School benefits substantially from Federal Titles Grant Money, and we need your help. Please complete and return the Household Income Form, which can be found here.

Here are some examples of how this money benefits students in our schools:
  • Books and learning materials for students
  • Activities, field trips, and special programming for students
  • Equipment, from snowshoes to technology, for students
  • Showcases and celebrations of learning for families and students
  • Hiring interventionists and teachers to support the academic growth of our students
  • Professional development and materials for teachers and staff

Even though all VT students receive free meals, the distribution of this money is determined by data collected through the Household Income Forms families complete. The money we receive under the Title Grant programs supplement the schools’ existing programs without adding to the local tax rate. Our continued eligibility for Title Grant money depends yearly on families completing the Household Income Form. We depend on these grant monies. Every student benefits from our federal grants, and our school budgets would look very different without federal grants.

Thank you in advance for continuing to fill out this form to help support our students. Please contact your school office if you have questions or need help completing the form.

Please feel free to ask any questions about the Title federal program at CCSU.
