As we head into Spring Break, it’s hard to believe how quickly this school year is passing. We hope your family is able to enjoy some well-deserved rest, relaxation, and time together during break.
With just 36 school days remaining when we return from break, the end of the school year is rapidly approaching. We are excited to make the most of this time together and to continue celebrating the incredible growth and accomplishments of our students.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making our school community such a wonderful place to be.
With gratitude,

This year, Danville School proudly participated in the Elementary Math Olympiads (MOEMS) program, an internationally recognized mathematics competition designed to challenge and inspire students to develop strong problem-solving skills. The program emphasizes critical thinking, perseverance, and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts through a series of five contests held throughout the school year.
We had 14 dedicated students participate in the program this year, representing both 5th and 6th grades. These students demonstrated outstanding commitment, meeting regularly and engaging in rigorous mathematical practice to prepare for each competition.
We are proud to recognize the following students for their exceptional performance:
- Top Score: Acadian Evans (Grade 5) – 18 points
- Second Place: Jeffrey St. John (Grade 6) – 17 points
Honorable Mentions:
-
Wyatt Mantius (Grade 6) – 13 points
-
Lizzy Paveling (Grade 5) – 12 points
Their achievements reflect not only their mathematical abilities but also their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the students who participated in Math Olympiads this year, as well as to their families for their continued support and encouragement. We are incredibly proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by this group and look forward to continued success in the future.

"Ted Scheu is a former elementary school teacher and the author of I Froze My Mother and Other Seriously Funny Family Poems and I Tickled My Teachers. He loves to perform his work, get kids giggling, and to teach writing to children through hands-on poetry workshops." As part of the presentation, CLiF will also be giving free books to Danville students.

The Pope Memorial Library invited Danville’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society to revamp an old dragon sculpture to “live” on a shelf in the children’s section, and they delivered! We love seeing our students contribute their creativity and talents to the community. A special thank you to NAHS advisor and art educator Abigail Bartell, as well as the NAHS students, for their incredible work. The dragon looks fantastic!

Head lice are a common occurrence among school-aged children and can appear in any school community. They are small insects that live on the scalp and feed on tiny amounts of blood. While they can cause itching and discomfort, head lice are not dangerous and do not transmit disease.
Lice spread primarily through direct head-to-head contact, which can occur during play, sports, group work, or sleepovers. They do not jump or fly, and having lice is not related to hygiene or cleanliness.
Common signs to watch for include:
- Frequent scratching of the scalp
- Itching, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck
- Small white or tan eggs (nits) attached firmly to the hair shaft close to the scalp
- Occasionally, live lice may be seen moving on the scalp
If you suspect your child has head lice:
- Carefully check the scalp and hair in good lighting.
- If lice or nits are found, begin treatment with an over-the-counter lice treatment as directed.
- Use a fine-tooth nit comb daily to remove nits.
- Wash recently used bedding, hats, and hair accessories in hot water and dry on high heat.
Students may return to school after treatment has been started. Ongoing monitoring and nit removal at home are important to prevent reinfestation.
If you have any questions or would like assistance checking your child’s hair, please feel free to contact the school health office. We are always happy to support families and provide guidance.
Thank you for helping keep our school community healthy.
