Danville School proudly announces the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Class of 2026.

Lynsey Lavely, Valedictorian, has had a stellar academic career at Danville High School. She is the 2026 Danville recipient of the University of Vermont Green and Gold Scholarship and has been accepted into the Honors College at UVM. She is also the Class President and President of the Danville chapter of National Honor Society.

Among her most memorable accomplishments at Danville School, Lynsey counts her work as class president. She has been instrumental in class fundraising and organization of trips and events. Lynsey was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award and was also the chapter essay winner.

Lynsey strives to be not just a strong student, but a great citizen and friend as well. “I believe one of the most important things you can do in life is shine light on others.” She is proud of her work as captain of the Varsity Girls basketball team this year and seeks out leadership opportunities regularly. High School Counselor, Simon Fisher says, "Lynsey has been a great citizen for our school. She has represented our school at conferences, school choice fairs and through school based activities. She’s a great leader and is one who leads by example.” Outside of school, Lynsey enjoys basketball and spending time with the community of people she’s built around her.

Regarding her plans for the fall, Lynsey says, “I'm attending UVM's Patrick Leahy Honors College to study business administration. I hope to concentrate my degree on Business Analytics, with a theme of Global Business. I also plan on minoring in Sports Management and hopefully participating in the Community News Service.” She’ll be busy this summer as well, attending a summer journalism program in Boston at Simmons University with other select high schoolers from across New England.

Lauren Joncas, Salutatorian, graduates having left a truly positive impact on the Danville School community. She was the 2025 recipient of the UVM Citizen Scholar Book Award and has consistently maintained her standing on the high honor roll. Lauren is a member of the National Honor Society as well and a true student leader.

Among her memories of Danville School, Lauren highlights her time as a student athlete. She has been a constant on the Varsity Girls Basketball team since her freshman year. “Athletically, I am proud to have played varsity basketball for four years, received the Dream Dozen award, and to have been selected to play in the senior game.”

Along with strong academics and athletics, Lauren has taken on numerous leadership roles including being an active member of the OVX and Umatter clubs on campus and Danville’s Student Council. Lauren is also the Vice President of the Class of 2026 and has been active in planning, preparation and execution of class activities. Lauren has been recognized by Danville staff for her leadership skills, as evidenced by their nominations for her to attend the Athletic Leadership Conference and HOBY Vermont Leadership Seminar. High School Math Teacher Spencer Morse says, “Lauren has been an extremely dependable student for her four years at Danville High School. In her classes with me I could always be sure that her work was going to be complete and thorough. She is inquisitive by nature and will ask good questions in order to better understand the topic at hand. I have no doubt that she will go on to do good things in the future and Keene State is lucky to have her.”

Outside of school, Lauren enjoys working at the local vegetable farm, getting outdoors to ski, hike, and swim, and spending time with her friends, family and dog. This fall, Lauren will be attending Keene State College as a member of the Morris-August Honors Program. She plans to study environmental science and sustainability.

Congratulations Lynsey and Lauren!
